The Opportunity

The Carson College of Business on the Washington State University Vancouver campus invites applications for a Scholarly Assistant Professor of Marketing (Faculty, 9-Month, Full-Time, Career-Track Position). Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Range $89,303 to $128,723. Start date: August 1, 2025.

The candidate will take a leading role in the marketing major at the Vancouver campus and in the Professional Sales Program at Washington State University. In addition to teaching duties, service will include: participation in activities aimed at increasing interest in the marketing major, coordinate sales program activities with faculty affiliated with the program across campuses, be involved in the strategic planning for the sales program, coordinate external and internal communications, actively recruit and manage partner relationships, and devise and implement an annual budget for the program.

The faculty member must remain academically or professionally qualified (per AACSB standards for WSU). Additional relevant service to the campus and discipline to advance the university towards its goals and provide distinctive contribution to the academic field will be required.

This position works on-site on the WSU Vancouver campus.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum earned MBA or equivalent master's in marketing or a related discipline at date of hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity and issues of just, equitable, and inclusive education.
  • Experience contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment through teamwork, mentoring, and/or committee work.
  • Ability to teach courses in sales and marketing.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry experience in sales and sales management to support teaching and service will be highly valued.
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability to connect with the business community. Experience leading Professional Sales programs at the University level, building programs, generating external funds to support the program, or securing the cooperation of local business organizations will be especially valued.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate classes face-to-face and/or online.
  • Experience with interactive teaching methods (e.g., case-based or other active learning approaches). And experience using tools to facilitate robust participation, critical thinking, and a sense of belonging in classrooms.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated well-rounded knowledge of business development gained from relevant work experience in sales and marketing.


Program Overview:
The Carson College of Business (CCB) at Vancouver enrolls more than 400 undergraduate students. The college has 99 full-time faculty across its campuses and 92 staff members. The CCB is AACSB accredited, with our most recent renewal granted in 2024. The CCB operates out of Todd Hall, which is located at the heart of the Pullman campus across from the Cougar Union Building and also includes faculty and students across three additional campuses and WSU's Global Campus.

The CCB prides itself on its inclusivity and accessibility, providing a quality business education to any student who is willing and able to put in the work required to earn their degree. To promote global awareness and competencies among our students, the CCB offers faculty-led study-abroad programs in Belize, China, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Croatia, Spain, Switzerland, and Thailand. In 2023, CCB leadership formed a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) council, which has informed improvements to the CCB's junior faculty mentoring program and performed a pay equity study, among other projects.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range per rank for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. WSU offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes paid sick and vacation leave; paid holidays; medical, dental, life and disability insurance package for employees and dependents; retirement; deferred compensation and optional supplemental retirement accounts.
