North Carolina State University, College of Humanities & Social Sciences, School of Social Work offers undergraduate and graduate level education to a student body of approximately 250 students. We are located in the Research Triangle Area, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The BSW generalist Social Work curriculum prepares graduates for entry-level social work practice, leadership, the delivery and evaluation of health and human services, as well as future graduate study. The School of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The Commission on Accreditation of CSWE is the sole body authorized to accredited BSW and MSW program in the United States.

Essential Job Duties
The School of Social Work invites applications for an Associate Professor or Full Professor (Tenured) position. This position may also include other leadership opportunities within the School. We seek candidates with leadership and management expertise as well as research and teaching experience in social work practice, theories, research, and policy.
The strongest candidates also will have demonstrated leadership experience, research and teaching interests, as well as community engagement, in advancing the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards and can lead the MSW Program to be successfully reaccredited in collaboration with faculty and the Executive Director/Head of the School. Candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to student recruitment and engagement, and marketing initiatives.
Job Duties:
Teaching Responsibilities: Primarily teach graduate-level courses in the School’s Master of Social Work (MSW) program. May also be required to teach in the undergraduate program (BSW).
Student Recruitment: Lead initiatives to recruit students for the program, ensuring a diverse and qualified student body.
Community Partnerships: Establish and maintain new and existing collaborations with community partners at local, national, and international levels.
Alumni Network: Strengthen and enhance the alumni network, fostering relationships with former students and encouraging their continued engagement with the School.
Work Environment: Facilitate a positive and supportive work environment for faculty, staff, and students.
We also seek candidates who are enthusiastically interested in contributing to the forward movement and growth of Graduate Programs in the School of Social Work, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Strategic Plan as well as the NC State WolfPack 2030 Strategic Plan.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Ph.D. in Social Work or closely related field. Degree at the time of application or notification of completion of doctoral degree by start date, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.

- Demonstrated potential for teaching, research, scholarship, and outreach/engagement activities as NC State as a land grant university that highly values outreach/engagement.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- The ability to carry out an original research agenda that advances the field of Social Work.
- Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising/mentoring is expected.
- Excellent communication skills and collegiality.
- Establish and sustain a record research, scholarship, creative activities, and community engagement.
- Participate in service to the School, College, University, Community and Profession.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work with 2 years post-Masters degree practice experience and a Ph.D. in Social Work or closely related field
- Experience leading a Social Work Administrative and Leadership program or position.
- Experience in program development, developing curriculums and course content in addition to online courses/curriculum.
- Demonstrated teaching experience across the curriculum at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Experience working collaboratively with Teams, leading projects, as well as intercultural communication.
- Demonstrated potential for leading social work education focused programs, committees, councils, etc.
- Demonstrated role in recruitment, facilitating meetings, trainings, orientation, preparation of handbook materials, program policies, innovative curriculum and programmatic development, among toher duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Head of the School.
- Experience in one or more of these specialty areas:
- Advanced social work practice,
- Health equity
- Inclusive excellence
- Policy advocacy
- Trauma-informed practice
- Behavioral health workforce
- Knowledge regarding the CSWE EPAS.
- Experience teaching across various formats (in person, hybrid, online).
- Disciplines in Social Work, Educational Leadership/Education, Gerontology/Aging, Sociology, Public Health, Public Administration.
