The DC Rape Crisis Center-DCRCC is the oldest, and the first rape crisis center in the country that is dedicated to creating a world free from violence. Beyond providing therapeutic support to survivors of sexual assault, the DC Rape Crisis Center consciously works towards building a consent based culture. Reports to: The Sexual Assault Advocate is supervised by the Advocacy Services Manager.
Summary: The DCRCC seeks a contract Sexual Assault Advocate to participate in its 24/7 on call rotation advocacy program, to include hospital response, and community based response for survivors of sexual assault. DCRCC covers the program every other week in the month as part of a Joint Response Program. This program is in accordance with the Sexual Assault Victims’ Rights Amendment Act of 2019, and the DC Sexual Assault Crisis Response Program. The Sexual Assault Advocate will directly be responsible for providing in person acute hospital/community advocacy to survivors of sexual assault within the District and also ongoing advocacy support in the aftermath of the assault. Advocate will offer support, information, resources, and referrals so survivors will be able to make well informed choices about their health, safety and healing. Advocate must be a critical thinker, work well with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams, communicate and write effectively, highly organized, flexible, ability to problem solve, and must be resourceful. The Sexual Assault Advocate will execute job duties, and responsibilities from an intersectional, and anti-oppression framework while upholding the values, and the mission of DCRCC.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ability to support the 24/7 on-call rotation hospital based, and community based Sexual Assault Crisis Response Program.
· Ability to be assigned and provide overnight and weekend shifts to support the hospital based and community based Sexual Assault Crisis Response Program.
· Ability to respond within one hour to all requests for advocacy services that includes the hospital response and community based response.
· Provide in person and virtual immediate, follow up, and ongoing advocacy services to include crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support to survivors in hospitals, law enforcement agencies and other community settings.
· Carry a caseload of active clients and keep clients regularly apprised of case status.
· Maintain accurate and complete records of all services delivered and adhere to agency and regulatory documentation submission requirements.
· Ability to serve shifts as admin on call when scheduled.
· Provide daily reports, and elevate issues and programmatic needs in the time required.
· Participate in all stages of internal and external trainings as needed.
· Issue spotting of any rights violations.
· Participate in regular group supervision and other meetings as required.
· Support and maintain individual and department goals, activity metrics and key performance indicators.
· Promote, support and demonstrate the mission, vision and values of the DC Rape Crisis Center through both behavior, and job performance as well as adhere to policies, procedures, and standards on a day to day basis.
· Take staff hotline.
· Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
· A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Education, or related field.
· At least 1-3 years of experience in the field of social services, sexual assault crisis response, and or hotline/intervention experience.
· Driver’s License and access to a car.
· Ability to arrive to a DC Location within one hour of dispatch – live either in DC or within 15 miles of DC – when on dispatch shift.
· Shift work or on call experience beneficial.
· Ability to exercise judgment and specific discretion in decision making situations significant to role/agency
· Knowledge of issues of sexual trauma, and gender based violence.
· Demonstrated cultural competency in working with diverse populations.
· Commitment to social justice, and anti-racism work.
· Knowledge of victim services within the District of Columbia.
· The ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
· Thrives in a dynamic environment.
· Values reliability, professionalism and integrity
· Flexibility to work outside regular hours to include evenings, overnights and weekends
· Shift work, and or on call experience a plus.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

This position requires a hybrid of work in person at the DCRCC office, in District hospitals, on scene, trainings, outreach events, staff meetings, partnership meetings, and other locations. This position requires residency within the District area as defined by the ability to consistently respond in person as part of the core job function of this role.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Compensation is paid at a salary rate commensurate with experience. The DC Rape Crisis Center provides employees with a comprehensive benefits package including paid holidays, vacation, sick and parental leave, health insurance contribution and ongoing professional development.
