This is a tenure-track faculty position that will begin in August 2025. History faculty are expected primarily to teach AMH 2010-Early American History and AMH 2020-Modern American History; other courses are taught as needed. HCC faculty are expected to contribute to the college community through committee work, on-going professional development, and collaborative curriculum development. A passion for teaching and commitment to student success are essential.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in history or
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in history
- To be considered, applicants must have been awarded the qualifying degree and/or qualifying graduate semester hours
Preferred Qualifications:
- Community college teaching experience
- Experience with online teaching and online curriculum development
- Experience working with a diverse population

Pay Rate:
- Faculty members will be assigned to the appropriate salary grade based on the contract with the faculty union.
- Grade 2: Master’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in field $50,421.94
- Grade 2+: Master’s Degree with 30 graduate semester hours in the field $53,004.11
- Grade 1: PhD in major field $55,587.43
- Up to four salary steps may be applied based on experience
