The 12-month faculty member is responsible for teaching both didactic and laboratory content within the program.  Teaching responsibilities include face to face format as well as online courses.  

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field.  Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.  

Current licensure as a Mortician in the State of Maryland or a Morticians license from another state with the eligibility to work as a Mortician in the state of Maryland; Master’s degree in related field; teaching experience preferred; and 2 years of recent work experience as a mortician is required.  

1. Provide didactic and laboratory instruction in the mortuary science program.  
2. Coordinate adjunct faculty also assigned to courses.
3. Maintain current knowledge in trends and practices within mortuary science and higher education.
4. Forge relationships with area mortuary science businesses to assure we are educating students to meet the needs of area employers.  
5. Participate in program and college committees.

1. Assure assigned lectures are current and contain active teaching techniques.
2. Serves as advisor to Mortuary Science students as assigned.
3. Provides individual consultations with students and promotes student completion and ability to meet program outcomes.
4. Participates in the review of courses and curriculum.  
5. Perfects teaching skills by using supervisor, peer and student feedback.
6. Participates in School of Health Professions activities such as School Orientation and Interdisciplinary activities.
