Director of Renewable Energy and Electrification Infrastructure Enhancement and Development Grant (RE-EIED)

Reports To:

Dean of Workforce Development

Administrative, Exempt, Full-Time, 37.5 hrs/wk, 12 Months per year, Grant Funded

Position Description:

The Director of the RE-EIED Grant is responsible for executing and managing the full implementation of a $4.6M grant from the Michigan Public Service Commission. The project includes installing a 6-acre solar array on ACC property, and connecting a solar learning laboratory to complement and enhance existing renewable energy programs offered at the college. Responsibilities include procurement of products and services, overseeing vendors and contractors, coordinating with State and Local governmental agencies, budget management, synchronization with applicable college faculty and staff, and provide supervision to the Assistant to the Director of RE-EIED Grant.

  • Provide leadership to all aspects of the RE-EIED grant including personnel, budgets, procurements, reporting, and evaluation.
  • Manage awards to maximum benefit for all stakeholders.
  • Administer and support the grant objectives.
  • Develop, manage and administer budgets to ensure projects can be completed within stringent fiscal constraints. Ensure that financial and accounting processes are followed, and serve as an internal auditor for the grant.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all safety precautions are exercised at all times for the protection of persons and property.
  • Establish and implement project goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with organization officials and staff members as necessary.
  • Actively develop business and professional relationships, represent the College at functions designed to promote project activities, and perform regular business and corporate site visits to promote quality partnership and training opportunities.
  • Determine staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees, or oversee those personnel processes.
  • Manage and supervise RE-EIED support staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties in coordination with other departments.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Grant Description:

The RE-EIED grant funding provides Alpena Community College the opportunity to install a renewable energy and electrification infrastructure, consisting of a 6-acre solar array, to act as a solar learning laboratory to complement and enhance existing renewable energy programs. The ACC project will demonstrate successful siting of solar, incorporate educational opportunities for ACC students, and contribute to the Governor’s MI Healthy Climate Plan goals.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises and provides direction to the clerical and technical staff employed under the RE-EIED grant.

 

Expected Hours of Work:

The normal workday for full-time employees shall be seven and one-half (7 ½) consecutive hours per day. The normal workweek shall be thirty-seven and one-half (37 ½) hours per week, Monday through Friday. Daily starting and ending time shall be established by the College Executive Council or its designee. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
