Job Summary
Responsible processing of scholarship requests for the updated Employee Tuition Assistance Program (ETAP) and scholarships granted by colleges and schools for online programs. Additionally, the role includes serving as a point of contact for work-study education. This role will help implement best practices university-wide, contributing to the efficient and effective delivery of financial aid services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Scholarship Processing:
- Evaluate scholarship applications and determine eligibility based on established criteria, ensuring fairness and equity in the selection process.
- Communicate with students regarding scholarship awards, requirements, and deadlines, providing clear and accurate information to support their financial aid planning.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline financial aid processes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
- Review and resolve over-awards to students cause when scholarships and waivers are added to existing financial aid offers.
- Work Study Liaison:
- Implement university best practices to ensure students and departments fully understand and utilize federal and state work study funds.
- Act as a key liaison between the financial aid office and other departments, determining student’s qualification for work study funds and education the student on accepting these funds.
- Annual Reporting:
- In partnership with UTA departments, track use of university’s federal and state work study funds.
- Present findings and recommendations from the annual reports to senior leadership and key stakeholders, informing status of use of work study funds.
- Other Duties as Assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, higher education, or a related field.
- At least two (2) years of experience in financial aid or a related field.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) or more years of experience in financial aid or a related field.
- Familiarity with financial aid management software.
- Experience working in a higher education setting.
- Experience with scholarship management and processing.
- Ability to speak multiple languages to assist various student populations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional organizational and communication skills.
- Experience developing and implementing financial aid policies and procedures.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge of best practices in financial aid administration and student financial services.
