This position will manage and have oversight of UC San Diego Health's Moores Cancer Center Infusion Center. This includes Garden Infusion, BMT infusion, CTI Infusion, Fast Track areas and lab draw station. This person will be responsible for managing, organizing, planning, assessing and monitoring services provided in the Infusion Center. This person will work collaboratively with other members of cancer services, which includes senior leadership, providers, operational leaders and staff. This position is expected to perform with a high degree of autonomy, identifying and collaborating with appropriate stakeholders, using effective project management skills.

The Nurse Manager is directly responsible for Infusion Center operations including nursing staff, medical assistants and infusion schedulers. This includes the development and maintenance of staff competencies and skills review, staff hiring, evaluations, providing education/training of staff for changes in treatments, policies or practices, as well as responsibility to purchase and maintain medical equipment used in these locations.

The Nurse Manager will provide frontline oversight of daily operations. Responsible for ensuring that the clinics effectively utilize resources, provide excellent customer service, comply with regulatory and internal UCSD requirements, provide support for the physicians in their practices, provide hands-on clinical support for the nurses and staff when needed, and optimize the overall efficiency and function of the unit. Responsibility for quality improvement, staff engagement, and strategic planning. Works closely with cancer services leadership to help develop and integrate annual operational, capital and personnel budget. Performs other related tasks as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).

  • Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Minimum seven (7) years of recent related healthcare experience, including at least five (5) years of recent RN experience.

  • Minimum two (2) years working in a charge, supervisory or management level position in oncology.

  • Practice management knowledge in staff scheduling, customer-service methods, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and information technology.

  • Broad knowledge of patient population served and the requirements for the delivery of services.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate on an individual level and within large groups. Strong written and communication skills. Strong presentation skills.

  • Ability to mentor and train other leaders.

  • Must have decision making, problem solving and prioritizing skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or health related field.

  • Chemo-Bio ONS certification.

  • OCN Certification.

  • Experience with Oncology Case Management.

  • Experience supervising in a moderate size infusion room and clinic environment.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $145,200 - $289,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $69.54 - $138.41

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
