Under supervision, the Front Desk Coordinator is the first point of contact for patients. Performs a variety of clerical and receptionist duties in support of daily patient services within clinical areas: greets patients, check in and check out procedures. Multi-specialty clinic appointment scheduling, insurance and authorization verification, updating patient demographics, audit billing documents, disposition appointments, co-pay collection, managing/monitoring petty cash drawer, and working closely as a resource for managers, physicians, nurses, staff and other UCSDH departments. Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- A minimum of three (3) years previous related experience in a large complex healthcare setting.
- Prior scheduling experience
- Proven knowledge of third-party payors including federal, state, and private health plans.
- Strong problem-solving ability by using good judgment and applying these skills to assist customers and ensure customers' expectations are met.
- Proven ability to work in an interactive environment and possess excellent customer service skills both in person and over phone.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Applications i.e., Outlook Email, Outlook Calendar, Teams, Word and Excel. Proven computer skills and be able to work between multiple systems during calls.
- Strong organizational skills. Ability to set priorities, handle deadlines and manage conflicting demands with limited supervision.
- Self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; a person who is open to new ideas; and a creative and flexible individual who is comfortable working in a large, complex organization.
- Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, able to maintain strict confidentiality with experience applying good judgment and discretion.
- EPIC-Cadence, EMR, Template and scheduling experience.
- Experience in a fast-paced, multi-specialty clinic.
- Authorization and registration experience.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- May be required to float to other sites to provide coverage as needed.
- Possible overtime.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $54,664 - $67,944 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $26.18 - $32.54
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
