Position Summary
The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is responsible for the oversight and day-to-day management of annual fundraising efforts. With support from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Board of Directors (BOD), the CDO holds the responsibility of ensuring that a culture of philanthropy is built and that annual fund goals are met.

Position Summary
The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is responsible for the oversight and day-to-day management of annual fundraising efforts. With support from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Board of Directors (BOD), the CDO holds the responsibility of ensuring that a culture of philanthropy is built and that annual fund goals are met.
Core Functions
- Develop the annual fund plan, its budget, calendar, and fundraising projections
- Meet annual fund goals determined by the BOD and CEO
- Oversee the administration of the fund development database
- Support corporate and foundation giving opportunities
- Supervise members of the Development Department including the Grants Manager, Marketing/Communications Coordinator, etc.
- Continue execution of successful direct mail program
- Execute intensive stewardship program
- Working closely with the CEO, continue the moves management process for current major donors and help to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects
- Oversee planning and implementation of special events with support of special events contractor, development committee, volunteers
- Report regularly on fundraising metrics to senior staff and board members
- Along with the chair of the board development committee, lead efforts of the committee
- Work with contractor(s) to develop materials, promotion strategies and visibility opportunities for programs, services, and events
- Manage CHADS’ brand and serve as the agency’s primary authority on standards and guidelines
- Write and/or edit content for all company publications, announcements, and editorial copy
- Oversight and assist with creation of content of website, social media, e-mail database
- Support and direct the Board of Directors regarding all fund development activities
- Other responsibilities or duties as mutually agreed upon with the CEO
- Ability to create, track, and analyze development initiatives
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communications skills
- Works well under pressure with the ability to handle multiple tasks often with pressing deadlines
- Team-player attitude and ability to understand and effectively share the CHADS’ mission
- Desire to work in an environment of measurable accountability
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- CFRE preferred
- 5 years of successful fundraising experience, preferably at social service organizations
- Major Gift Campaign experience preferred
- Supervisory experience in motivating teams to meet goals
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Windows, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Share Point, PowerPoint), live video conferencing and Donor Perfect or other similar fundraising software.
- This position requires access to reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
