The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village of Norridge, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of police officer with the Norridge Police Department.
Salary: $69,965.31 - $108,173.20 (contract currenly in negotiations)
Population: 14,703
Sworn Police Officers: 37
All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Norridge Board of Fire & Police Commissioners:
- U.S. Citizenship;
- No felony convictions (or any misdemeanor conviction involving moral turpitude);
- Valid driver's license;
- Must have attained 21st birthday by August 30, 2024 -AND- be under the age of 35 by the initial eligibility anticipated roster date of November 27, 2024 -OR- applicants who are currently police officers, or have previously been police officers, who are under the age of 40 and/or meet the exemption set forth in the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Act (Illinois Compiled Statutes 65ILCS5/10-2.1-6);
- High school diploma or GED equivalent;
- Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (law enforcement degree preferred) -OR- a minimum of 60 college credit hours by the time of conditional job offer -OR- honorably discharged from the military at the time of conditional job offer.
- Must have eyesight at least 20/20 corrected, without any color blindness or other eye abnormality;
- Must be of good moral character;
- Successful completion of the Illinois P.O.W.E.R. test will be required upon entry into the Academy, but is not required at the time of application. Applicants may be required to submit a P.O.W.E.R. Test card that was obtained within 90 days of appointment to academy;
- $45.00 non-refundable application processing fee;
- Application Deadline: Friday, August 30, 2024 by 5:00 PM (CST).

- Social security card;
- High school diploma/transcripts -OR- GED certificate/transcripts;
- Copy of OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS (with certified seal or stamp). Non-official transcripts will NOT be accepted;
- If applicant has military service, a copy of his/her Military Service Record Form DD-214.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: Incomplete or defective applications will not be accepted and will disqualify the applicant.
DATES TO REMEMBER:
- Submit Application: Applicants must complete and submit all application materials on-line by Friday, August 30, 2024 at 5:00 PM (CST). No faxed, emailed, or dropped off applications will be accepted.
- Mandatory On-Line Written Examination Testing: Following completion of all application materials and review of minimum qualifications, successful applicants will be invited to participate in remote on-line written exam testing starting at 9 AM on Friday, September 13, 2024 through Monday, September 16, 2024 at 4 PM. The test will only be available during this time period. Candidates will need to have access to a laptop or desktop computer. All candidates will receive an email approximately one week prior regarding their status in the process, along with further instructions for taking the on-line written exam. NOTE: Please be sure to check your email spam folder. Many email account providers automatically send our emails there in error (i.e. Google, Yahoo, etc.).
