We are currently seeking a full-time Production Supervisor for our 2nd shift (3:00 pm - 11:30 pm) Monday - Friday at our Jet Products facility located in Kearny Mesa.
What Does the Job Involve?
The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervision and performance of employees engaged in manufacturing machining processes. Oversees operational output, productivity, safety, and manufacturing processes. Coordinates activity involved with applying machine knowledge, shop procedures, machine tool set up, and operating techniques and production methods in the manufacture of material and products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.
What will my responsibilities include?
- Provides day to day supervision of assigned manufacturing, production, and machining department functions and employees.
- Assigns duties, responsibilities, and projects and prepares work schedules.
- Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process, observing control points, and equipment.
- Maintains quality by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Establishes and maintains Lean Manufacturing processes.
- Analyzes and resolves operational work issues or assists others in resolving issues.
- Manages, trains and develops, evaluates performance, and provides employee discipline as necessary.
- Evaluates staffing requirements.
- Directs and oversees personnel processes.
- Supervises and administrates functions such as time, attendance, and various reporting as needed.
- Assists with technical production processes while supporting machines, tools, quality control, costs, and the manufacturing environment.
- Provides and reports out manufacturing information by initiating, compiling, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and dates.
- Answers questions and responds to machines and technical requests.
- Participates in cross-functional teams to ensure quality performance related to quality systems, costs, and delivery requirements.
- Ensures and manages effective and quality machine shop operations, including establishing and providing necessary adjustments to achieve daily production requirements and goals.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of machinery, equipment, and shop procedures.
- Monitors personnel and resources; studying methods, implements cost reductions, and develops reporting procedures and systems.
- Communicates effectively while prioritizing workload, acts as a change agent, and works in a team environment.
- Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Recommends and implements changes to improve operational efficiency and/or quality standards.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment; trains and directs employees on the control points, equipment, and resources; maintains compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Facilitates corrections to malfunctions within process control points.
What Key Skills and Experience Do I Need?
- 5 years in aerospace manufacturing. Preferably with experience in machining, assembly, NDT, welding, or furnace processes.
- 2 years of previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in logistics and/or inventory preferred.
What Qualifications Should I Have?
- Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
