Senior Administrator, System-PeopleSoft

Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for the daily administration and optimization of PeopleSoft environments, including but not limited to planning, installation, configuration, change control, patch management and performance monitoring and tuning in a 24x7 environment.  Work activities involve all production, development and test environments for PeopleSoft in Human Resources, Finance and Student Administration applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Collaborate with other IT administrators to design, plan and implement the PeopleSoft server environments.

Write scripts to automate daily administrative tasks.

Evaluate, recommend and use software tools to monitor and manage PeopleSoft health and performance, and provides management with reports regarding PeopleSoft health.

Establish requirements and formulate proper documentations to ensure consistency and adherence to standards and policies and procedures, working with product vendors on installations and upgrades.

Create and adhere to change control and release/configuration management standards and policies.

Monitor environment for proper operation within established performance and availability expectations.

Maintain current knowledge of trends and future directions in the PeopleSoft environments.

Develop strategic technical implementation plans and work plans for technical teams.

Provide training and mentoring to other team members through knowledge transfer activities.

Implement and provide support of security measures and products related to PeopleSoft including application installs, upgrades, vulnerability assessment and patch management.

Participate in the design of the IT departmental procedures regarding implementation and security measures for software and hardware usage within the windows server environment ensuring documentation is maintained accurately.

Participate in the planning of PeopleSoft and its related utility upgrades and patches, and the development of disaster recovery plans for the PeopleSoft environments.

Provide input and technical support in troubleshooting complex issues within PeopleSoft application, software and hardware environments, properly sizing and configuring web servers, application servers and database servers.

Provide applicable support and assistance in defining infrastructure processes and associated components, analyzing improvement opportunities, establishing and troubleshooting enterprise network connectivity.

Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field required
  • 8 years directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of required degree
  • 5 years work experience in a “Production” 24/7 environment required, including 2 years administering, maintaining, tuning and monitoring information management systems, and 1 year administering operating systems and application servers

Licensing & Certification

  • Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions

General Office.  Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner.  Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements.  May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
