The Role

The S&OP coordinator role is responsible for managing the S&OP process steps throughout a business unit and/or a geographical area. This role will lead regular Supply Reviews and help facilitate S&OE, and S&OP meetings and ensure information flows effectively between the different steps of the S&OP process. The success criteria for the role are as follows:

  • Financial: Achieve revenue and gross margin as per global and regional strategy

  • End-to-End Supply Chain: Forecast bias on a regional level, inventory days on hand and scrap / SLOB

  • Customer: On-Time-in-Full.

Intermittent International travel required.

This is a hybrid role located at our San Diego, CA office.

The Responsibilities
  • Deploy, orchestrate, and execute the S&OP process in assigned business unit(s), plant(s) and/or area to achieve process objectives across key areas - finance, end-to-end supply chain, customer, team, and stakeholder engagement

  • Synthesize information and key data points to frame a cross-functional perspective for various stakeholders to drive consensus on important decisions related to balancing supply and demand and aligning the plan to business strategy and financial goal

  • Ensure that the monthly Supply Review meetings take place at regular cadence, effectively facilitate the meetings, and summarize and share key outcomes as an input into the S&OP

  • Lead the weekly supply check-in meetings with the respective factories and/or suppliers

  • Responsible for creating global finished goods allocation strategies, when necessary

  • Ensure that portfolio changes such as NPI and EOL events are planned with a multifunctional team, have been properly communicated and are included as an input to the demand and supply planning process

  • Consolidate inputs of supply and make sure that supply constraints are clearly spelled out with options to make trade-offs

  • Prepare for the S&OP meetings by reconciling supply to demand, aligning with the financial plans and understanding the financial implications of different scenarios

  • Explain the risks and upside associated with different scenarios for more productive discussions in the executive S&OP meeting

  • Align within the multifunctional teams on which decisions will be presented in the executive S&OP meeting, and who will present them. Ensure that all inputs needed for the executive S&OP meeting are available

  • Ensure that decisions from the Executive S&OP meeting are communicated to each function/department/team including S&OE and if necessary, ensure that execution is taking place. Collaborate with the executives on required escalation items

  • Support in hiring and training demand and supply planners

  • Maintain tracking of attendees, action plan log, outcomes, and summaries of meetings.

  • Track, maintain, and report metrics using analytical tools to assess the S&OP process for adherence to the process design and understand areas for opportunity and change

  • Work with the S&OP process owner on continuous improvement, challenges with the process and options to improve the process

The Individual

Required:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in end-to-end supply chain

  • At least 4 years of experience in S&OP, demand and/or supply planning and S&OP coordination

  • A minimum of bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, business administration or finance

  • An in-depth understanding of planning processes: demand planning, supply planning, inventory planning, integrated business planning (IBP), product portfolio planning, new products introduction, material requirements planning (MRP) and S&OP process

  • Financial, business and commercial acumen including understanding of interdependencies between various parts of the organization: commercial, sales, marketing, product development, finance, and manufacturing and working knowledge of financial planning

  • Collaborates with diverse teams to build understanding and trust with all key stakeholders to develop common outcomes, strategies and plans

  • Detail orientated and ensures that all data and activities are managed at an appropriate level of detail to create accurate demand and supply plans

  • Ability to organize people and activities to achieve expected outcomes.

  • Works proactively and builds on existing knowledge and broadens scope of work to learn from experience

  • Communication. A strong ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across multiple functions and levels within the organization. Can explain complex topics in simple ways to facilitate decision-making

  • Strong Analytical Skills. Data gathering, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including business process metrics and measures linking to business KPIs

  • Scenario planning. Can construct scenarios based on various sources of data to provide options to S&OP team

  • Project management. Knows the critical steps and processes involved in managing projects from inception to completion

  • Technology. Has insight and experience into company systems and supply chain planning tools related to planning processes. Able to process and present data findings

Preferred:

  • An advanced degree or relevant certifications in supply chain (such as APICS CPIM, CSCP)

Physical Demands

No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. Occasional travel may be required.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $79,000 - 134,000 annually. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
