Position Overview
The Farmers Insurance Open is seeking a dynamic and creative Digital Marketing & Communications Coordinator to join our team. This role is integral to the successful execution of our marketing, public relations, and social media strategies leading up to and during the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. This position will run from October 2024 through early February 2025 and is ideal for a motivated professional with a passion for marketing, storytelling, and event management.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Project Management:
  • Support the Marketing team with the management of various projects, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are aligned with the tournament's branding and goals.
  • Assist in the production of marketing materials, including gathering photos, content, and ads from sponsors to be used across various platforms.
  • Provide creative support for marketing collateral, on-site signage, digital ads, presentations, and other promotional materials.
Social Media Strategy & Management:
  • Assist with the development and execution of a comprehensive social media strategy to enhance engagement and brand visibility for the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open.
  • Assist with the management and oversight all official social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, ensuring consistent and engaging content.
  • Create, curate, and schedule content across platforms, focusing on storytelling that resonates with our audience.
  • Monitor social media channels for trending topics, engage with followers, and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Assist with coordination of influencers and media partners for social media collaborations and campaigns, contributing to content planning and execution.
Public Relations & Communications:
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of Media Days and other key press events leading up to the tournament.
  • Support the development and distribution of press releases, media alerts, and other communications to regional and national media outlets.
  • Assist with customer service inquiries via email, social media, and phone, ensuring all communications are handled professionally and promptly.
  • Contribute to the content development for the tournament website, email newsletters, and other communication channels, ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date.
Event Support:
  • Provide on-site support during the tournament, including partner relations, coordinating with the social caddies, and ensuring smooth execution of social media coverage.
  • Assist with the logistical coordination of influencer video shoots and live social media content during the event, including light video editing as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in marketing, social media management, and public relations, preferably in a live event or sports-related setting.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, content creation, and analytics tools.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and basic video editing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while managing multiple projects independently.
  • Availability to work extended hours during the week of the tournament (January 20 - January 25, 2025).
  • Physical ability to carry 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
Compensation & Schedule
This is a paid, seasonal position with part-time hours leading up to the tournament, and full-time hours during advance and tournament weeks. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, between $20-$25 per hour.
