Essential Job Duties

  • Prof. Fanxing Li’s research group is hiring a postdoctoral candidate to develop computational models to investigate and design mixed metal oxides with tailored redox and catalytic properties.
  • Highly motivated recent graduates with backgrounds in ab initio calculations on mixed oxides and catalytic systems are encouraged to apply. The ability to perform DFT calculations using standard quantum chemistry software packages (e.g. VASP) is required. Fluency in scientific programming stack and experience in heterogeneous catalysis and/or material science are preferred. Applicants must have published 3-5 articles in reputable peer-reviewed journals.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understanding of reduction-oxidation behaviors and properties for mixed oxide-based oxygen carriers and/or catalysts; unveil the reaction mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with experimental collaborators at the NCSU research group and other institutions to discuss and analyze project results and propose new directions.
  • Disseminate findings through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at conferences, symposia, or review meetings.
  • Prepare written/oral reports on the progress of the project.
