Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Enrollment Operation is looking to fill a Program Management Specialist position. This position must be able to work independently to perform duties in support of Enrollment Operations in the Office of Enrollment Management. The candidate for this position works closely with Enrollment Operations staff to process UMD Undergraduate and Graduate admissions application supporting documents, reconcile applicant records, and process student record changes.

Using various online software and systems, the candidate will perform duties which include review of Undergraduate and Graduate Application supporting documents, record-keeping and tracking. This includes but is not limited to scanning documents, inserting applications, indexing documents, reviewing and classifying residency status, uploading and matching test scores (i.e. Duolingo), verifying authenticity of transcripts and degrees awarded, prepping application materials, and performing quality assurance of scanned documents to applicant’s files.

The candidate will work to ensure a proper level of quality control in the handling of documents throughout the processing cycle. Individual discretion is required to reduce or eliminate workflow interruptions. The candidate will work with collaboratively with campus partners and assist with customer service inquiries. The candidate will support the training and supervision of student workers as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelors degree.

Experience:
Two years experience in administrative staff work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Elementary knowledge of reference and research methods and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data and information; of basic methods and techniques used in organizing and conducting studies and analyses or programs, procedures, and organizations; of basic analytical and statistical principles and techniques.
  • Skill in the use of office automation software and its application; in operating manual and automated office equipment. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; to present ideas and information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; to perform mathematical computations; to present statistical material in chart and graph form.

Other:
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

  • Higher Education experience in an administrative or student support services.
  • The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills to work in a team environment/.
  • Because of the nature of the data in relation to student’s academic record, strong attention to detail when reviewing and entering data is extremely important. 
  • Ability to work with various computer software and systems.
