Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lab Coordinators are responsible for providing technical and instructional support to their respective instructional program.  The main responsibility of this position is to support faculty instruction and student learning, by ensuring maximum effectiveness of the instructional labs. The essential duties include ensuring instructional labs meet all regulatory and safety standards, ensuring equipment is properly maintained and in safe working condition, assisting instructors with lab set up, demonstrations and technical support, maintaining records of equipment, supplies, and safety inspections, assist in monitoring expenditures and managing instructional supply budget.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Work collaboratively with faculty and industry professionals to develop, review, and update instructional resources.
  2. Oversee the daily operations of labs, including scheduling, maintenance of equipment, and adherence to safety protocols.
  3. Maintain an inventory of lab supplies and equipment, and coordinate repairs and replacements as needed.
  4. Provide instructional and technical support to faculty in delivering hands-on instruction and integrating technology into lessons.
  5. Assists in advising students on career pathways, industry certifications, and educational opportunities related to program field of study.
  6. Assist in job placement activities and coordinate external experiential learning opportunities.
  7. Collect and analyze data on student performance, program outcomes, and lab utilization to assess effectiveness and inform decision-making.
  8. Assist in ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations governing respective program, safety standards, and educational requirements.
  9. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program accreditation and certification processes.
  10. Assist in promoting awareness of program and career opportunities among students, parents, and the broader community.
  11. lnstall, setup, and maintain program equipment, to include program specific software, hardware and equipment for lab activities.
  12. Consults with, advises, and assists departmental personnel in resolving technical problems in program labs.
  13. Coordinates the repair of all departmental equipment, including preventive maintenance, onsite repair, and off-campus repair service.
  14. Coordinates departmental tutoring activities.
  15. Participates in student recruitment activities. 
  16. Assists program with the processing of equipment and instructional supply purchases, maintaining purchasing process integrity.
  17. Assist with annual budget planning and preparation by assisting in collecting budgetary information.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned by the program faculty and/or Department Chair/Director.

Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency.
1 year verifiable welding experience.  

Preferred:
Certificate in welding discipline.
3 years verifiable welding experience.
1 year welding certificate

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Working knowledge of the tools used in the welding industry. 

2. Working knowledge of welding terminology.

3. Should have an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

4. Should be able to work with various types of discipline specific industry software and technology.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.  
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Work is performed in a standard office environment.
