Venture Builder Program Manager

Job Description

VENTURE BUILDER PROGRAM MANAGER, Office of Innovation, will lead the Project Innerspace initiative with substantial autonomy, exploring new venture concepts within MIT's research ecosystem; will engage across MIT, utilizing a designated budget to manage teams of students, post-docs, and faculty members; will collaborate with Internal and External Advisory Boards to guide project direction, support business development, and potentially serve as director of a scientific team; will represent Project Innerspace at external events; will analyze intellectual property opportunities to develop broad protection strategies; will define key scientific experiments; will engage scientific and research experts both internally and externally; will implement operational plans to support Project Innerspace’s mission, coordinate financial, technical, and personnel resources, and manage expenses within the program's budget; will develop methods for tracking key metrics and implement new policies to ensure efficiency and compliance with MIT procedures.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; minimum of five years of experience in technology translation, leading research teams, or building ventures based on research; or previous experience in venture building, startups, or entrepreneurship. PREFERRED: recent PhD in a scientific discipline, with experience in engineering and science disciplines related to fusion and clean energy, scientifically creative thinker with the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams with excellent and diverse technical skills; demonstrated business acumen; strong strategic planning, scientific, and analytical skills, with sound judgment and operational focus; adaptable, resourceful, and entrepreneurial, undaunted by technical and operational challenges; has excellent communication skills; is a strong leader and team builder, capable of fostering innovation, perseverance, and agility; can maintain a high level of trust and integrity under strict confidentiality.
