Position Summary
The Academic Support & Student Success Department is recruiting for a full-time Learning Lab Coordinator to work in the Total Learning Center. This position provides integrated coordination of all learning labs on the Victoria College Main and Gonzales campuses to ensure consistent administration of learning support services; oversees the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of learning assistants. The Learning Lab Coordinator is responsible for leading the communication and marketing of the Learning Lab Program and completing the periodic program assessments and evaluations.

- Lead and manage the Learning Lab Program at Victoria College
- Develop and manage the schedule of Learning Assistants (LAs)
- Schedule and oversee the monthly Learning Lab meetings
- Work with faculty and staff to identify potential Student Learning Assistants and encourage VC students to attend the Learning Lab
- Communicate with faculty about Learning Lab offerings and weekly meals
- Screen applications, interview potential learning assistants, complete new hire paperwork and electronic/paper files
- Update Learning Assistant files and contact list with the hiring of each new Learning Assistant
- Plan and lead at least two Learning Assistant Orientations each year, one before each long semester, and use College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) materials as a guide
- Evaluate annually all Learning Assistants’ performance to ensure quality and consistency of services
- Maintain CRLA program certification requirements and standards for all Learning Lab Programs
- Attend the CRLA Conference
- Track and maintain CRLA certification levels for the Learning Assistants
- Compile and maintain reports concerning the use of Learning Lab resources, Learning Assistant training, and evaluation of services
- Maintain the Learning Lab website
- Oversee the Success Through Academic Referrals (STAR) – Learning Lab Referrals
- Create the TSI ELAR reviews
- Develop instructional materials and resources; assist in the Learning Lab as needed
- Provide Learning Assistants with guidance, documentation, and training for all modes of delivery
- Assist with the Learning Lab timesheet submission process. This includes printing Check-In reports, sending tutor e-mail reminders, and checking paperwork for errors
- Assist the dean in developing annual goals and objectives
- Maintain documentation for allocation of grant funds for payroll
- Assist the dean in developing annual budget recommendations
- Provide APA, MLA, AMA, and CMS format training for Humanities Learning Assistants
- Serve on committees that enhance the services for all students
- Collaborate with academic departments and other student services to develop and provide student workshops (MLA, APA, etc.)
- Maintain snack area on VC Main Campus and provide weekly hot lunches (shopping, preparing, and cleaning)
- All other duties as assigned by the Dean of Academic Support and Student Success
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Humanities/English required
- Master’s degree required
- Two years of leadership experience required
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Experience working with high school/college students required
- Strong computer skills are required including but not limited to Excel pivot tables
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to collaborate and build rapport with students
- Familiarity with VC policies and procedures and student resources are preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, keypads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand, and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds while loading office supplies and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to the computer screen. Hearing light to moderate sound is required for this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
