Job Description

The Department of Environmental Health and Engineering seeks a Sr. Academic Program Coordinator. This position will provide and coordinate administrative support services and academic program activities. The successful candidate is expected to act independently to coordinate a variety of processes and activities for the undergraduate, master, and PhD level academic programs. This position will be a member of the EHE Academic Office and will report to the Academic Program Manager.


Environmental Health and Engineering is a unique department that sits within the Bloomberg School of Public Health and Whiting School of Engineering. This position will have the opportunity to learn about the processes of two schools within JHU. The position will be hybrid.


The successful candidate has administrative responsibility for complex program elements requiring collaboration with students, faculty, and/or other departments.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the administrator, leadership of the department, and faculty regarding work and academic appointments, scholarships, and tuition.
  • Initiate PhD appointment letters and track assigned student hours and activities.
  • Identify opportunities to build recourses, update existing resources, and develop new resources for tracking and assigning TA/RA ships.
  • Advise students on work requirements in compliance with the regulations. May handle sensitive personal issues with students.
  • Create and maintain faculty, student, and course information records.
  • Assist with the organization and assignment of PhD seating and workspaces.
  • Provide reports as needed.
  • Assist in preparing catalog copy and course descriptions.
  • May independently manage specific program activities.
  • Compose and prepare routine correspondence to students and faculty.
  • Maintain various databases and paper records.
  • Maintain the academic calendar and adhere to the requirements of the academic year.
  • Provide support to academic team initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Graduation Equivalent Diploma.
  • Five years of progressively responsible administrative/academic experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Role/Level/Range: ATO 37.5/03/OF  
Starting Salary Range: $21.25 - $36.90/Hourly ($40,000.00 Targeted; Commensurate with experience) 
Employee group: Part-time 
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM 
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
