Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Serves as the Intake Coordinator and Program Support for the Maryland Business Opportunities Center (MBOC), the University’s central hub for supporting efforts across the state to start, grow, and sustain businesses owned by minorities, women, and other underserved communities.

The position will be responsible for assisting new and existing clients in accessing existing small business services Therefore, the work requires a thorough knowledge of the organization and its programs and involves moderate participation in the Director’s work. The incumbent will function independently, with the responsibility for programmatic processes and operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and 2 years experience.
  • Proficiency in collecting and analyzing data.
  • Ability to interact and communicate face to face, email or phone with professionalism.
  • Ability to work in an interactive, dynamic work environment where you will be expected to problem solve while working as a member of a team.
  • Proficiency with Excel and experience with PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously and independently.
  • Ability to work independently and to meet negotiated milestones and deadlines.
  • Proficient with Business English, comfortable interacting and communicating with professionals in a state-wide network.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in English and in Spanish if need.

Preferences:

  • Familiarity with Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Small Business Administration (SBA) programs.

  • Skill in various computer software packages, such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation programs, Internet, email, and calendaring software (e.g., MS Office Suite; Calendy, Gmail, etc.)

  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions; understand and follow oral and written instructions; and interact courteously and efficiently with internal and external parties.

This position will require minimal travel. Currently working assignment is between in-office and remotely environment until further notice.

Physical Demands

Physical Demands:

This position will require minimal travel to provide on-site visits with clients, outreach, training, and statewide/national conferences. Currently, work assignment is remotely but will be required at times to come into headquarter or remote offices to work per request of Program Director. An active valid driver’s license is required. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.
