Plumbing Shop Assistant Supervisor

Job Description

We are seeking an Plumbing Shop Assistant Supervisor.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Supervisor or other senior managers as required, liaising between the Supervisor and other employees.
  • Provides direction to the staff whenever the supervisor is off site.
  • Inspects contracted work as needed.
  • Reviews all work orders before and after completion.
  • Provides mentoring/training to staff members
  • Assists in Hiring and training new employees.
  • Develops training materials and conducting training sessions and workshops.
  • Monitors both individual and team job performance metrics through Maximo (CMMS). Inform supervisors of completed and outstanding work orders.
  • Provides staff with technical guidance and assistance.
  • Relays productivity concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Prepares work schedules.
  • Assists with other administrative tasks, when required.
  • Attends and participate in meetings regarding work to be done; attend training classes.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in installing, repairing and maintaining equipment in licensed trade.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work; ability to prepare estimates and order materials for maintenance and repair jobs.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in determining operating conditions.
  • Ability to plan, lay out, supervise and inspect the work of subordinates.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
  • Knowledge of energy management systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints and thrive in a construction environment.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or general education equivalent. Certifications or professional license preferred.
  • 6 years’ experience in the indicated field, including 2 years' experience in a similar supervisor/lead role.
  • Journeymen License (HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical) required.
  • Experience with liaising between management and employees.
  • Exceptional ability to motivate employees and foster teamwork.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and reporting job performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, excel (Microsoft products)
  • Valid driver’s license required.


Physical Requirements

  • Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Special Requirements

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have the ability to respond to emergency needs 24/7 as required.

Starting Salary Range: $50,439.84 - $88,399.92 Annually (Commensurate with experience)
