Immediate Supervisor’s Title: Coordinator of Student Activities

Positions Supervised: Student Work-study Personnel

Term of Position: 9 Months

Position Description:(primary functions)

Coordinates the daily operations of the institution’s evening activities and promotes recruiting strategies for extra-curricular opportunities for residential and commuter students

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in a related field required (education, health physical education recreation and dance, health education, sports medicine, sports management required); 2 years working in developing, implementing, and managing recreational activities in higher education or p-12 required; experience in data collection and assessment preferred; extensive knowledge of rules and regulations of varied sports and recreation activities required; experience with working with a diverse population of students required; strong interpersonal, writing, and oral communication skills required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and works closely with the Director of Student Activities to materialize a comprehensive Intramural Sports Program and to make activities accessible to commuter students. Assists in the development of the Student Activities Manual and assists in the coordination of data collection for accurate reporting.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of cultural events for students
  • Serves as mediator for conflicts arising in sporting or union events
  • Works closely with campus police to ensure safety and order
  • Enforces the policies and procedures set forth in the student handbook
  • Supervises all work-study students in the game room, intramural programs, and cultural activities
  • Coordinates timesheets for all work-study students
  • Oversees all game room and sporting equipment inventory
  • Ensures that all equipment is properly maintained in the game room
  • Serves as technician for trouble shooting in Student Union facilities
  • Works summer camps as needed
  • Oversees all money collected in the game room/bowling center
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Activities, Director of Student Engagement
