Research Assistant

Job Description

The Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology is seeking a Research Assistant to work under the direction of the Principal Investigators (PI) and Research Program Manager and assist in data analysis at the Hopkins Lupus Center. The Center is focused on nephritis, the development of biomarkers and study of pathogenic mechanisms of lupus nephritis. The research studies involve the joint analysis of multiplexed imaging of 100+ kidney biopsies, urine proteomics, single cell RNA sequencing, and other technologies.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of the study protocol.
  • Work with the PI and the other research team members.
  • Assist with the image registration and processing of multiplexed histological images and the single cell analysis of spatially resolved kidney structures.
  • Assist with the analysis of other studies related to lupus nephritis research.
  • Perform bioinformatic analyses and develop analytical pipelines using R, Python, or Matlab.
  • Maintain a clear repository of the code employed for analysis which is shared with team members on OneDrive.
  • Assist in the development of tables and figures for reports and manuscripts.
  • Perform literature reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong bioinformatic skills and previous experience with coding.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY ($48,880 targeted; Commensurate with experience) 
Employee group: Full Time 
Schedule: M-F 8:30a - 5p 
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
