Part-Time Educational Aide, Mascot

Job Description Summary

The Santa Fe Athletics department is seeking a mascot for Caesar the Saint Bernard to represent the college and help create a fun environment for event patrons. Employees must be available with a flexible schedule. The work schedule will be based upon the Santa Fe Athletics calendar with evening and weekend games, and requests for the mascot will also be accepted for other campus and community events.   

 

Job Description

Responsibilities and Duties

  • An outgoing personality with high-energy and friendliness in costume.
  • Dancing ability and willingness/comfortability to be in front of larger crowds.
  • Calm composure and ability to maneuver while in costume despite wearing conditions and a narrow line of sight.
  • Attending select athletic events (both indoors and outdoors), as scheduled and in costume.
  • Flexibility to attend requested campus events as a representative of Saints Athletics and the college as a whole.
  • Being an active and engaged spectator, fan, and presence at events, interacting with a variety of groups and patrons of all ages to generate excitement and help create a fun environment.
  • Familiarity with all Caesar costume components.
  • Awareness of how to properly wear and care for the costume, which primarily includes cleaning and storage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may include new promotional initiatives.

Reports to: Associate Director, Athletics

Qualifications

Required: A full-time student taking at least six credit hours. Must be between 5'7” and 6'3” in height in order to safely use the mascot costume.
Other:  A criminal background check will be conducted.

  • Ability to work successfully in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ethics - able to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, civility, and a high degree of ethics in all job-related actions.
  • Detail Oriented - Proven accuracy and attention to detail, particularly regarding costume care.
  • Relationship Management - able to personally provide high level of interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs.
