Job Summary

Plan, direct, develop, and oversee the implementation of basic skills non-credit courses to facilitate adult learners’ remediation and transition to college and employment.

Essential Functions

 

Develop, implement, manage, and evaluate non-credit adult education and transition to college courses and community outreach services, including marketing and recruitment.

Develop budget recommendations and manage approved budgets. Monitor and maintain records of equipment and inventories for assigned programs. Write and manage grants and assist in obtaining external funding to ensure the sustainability of self-supporting programs. Prepare and submit reports.

Promote and implement short and long-range strategic operational and instructional plans and related policies/procedures. Ensure compliance with college strategic goals and state standards. Implement approved programs and recommend modifications or changes.

Establish and maintain relationships with the community, educational institutions, advocacy groups, and sponsoring local, state, and federal agencies. Participate in professional and community activities at the local, state, and national levels. Communicate and coordinate activities with campus-based and district-wide units.

Develop and manage class schedules and development activities, including assigned on and off-campus facilities, online courses, recruitment strategies, and order instructional materials for faculty and student access.

Provide personnel management, direction, and guidance to staff and faculty, including performance evaluation, professional development, coaching, and counseling.

Perform other duties as assigned. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

1. Master's Degree and four (4) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.

2. Knowledge and understanding of college transition and college readiness resources, research, work, and standards.

3. Experience developing and executing budgets.

4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and public.

5. Ability to communicate and interact with individuals at all levels of the institution.

6. Ability to organize and direct major tasks.

7. Ability to understand, analyze, and interpret policies and procedures.

8. Experience developing and conducting presentations.

9. Experience generating reports.

10. Experience writing or developing grants.

11. Experience managing and supervising personnel.


Special Conditions:


1. This is a security-sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215; the successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College’s policies and procedures.

Copies of transcripts must reflect completed coursework and conferred degrees. All academic coursework and degrees must be from an accredited college or university or be certified by an acceptable agency that the institution is recognized by the appropriate governmental agency in its home country (this is generally stated in the degree evaluation).

Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework.

Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied with the above required documentation will not be considered.

Out-of-town candidates invited for an on-campus interview will be reimbursed for one-half of the transportation cost for travel performed within the United States. The College will arrange and pay for up to two nights lodging.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, taste, or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
