Summary of Position

The Assistant Registrar supports all facets of the day-to-day Registration operations, including management of academic record-keeping; enrollment verifications; degree and non-degree registration; and phone and email inquiries which support the academic mission of the University. The individual in this role will serve as the Official NCAA Division I Athletic Certification Officer for the University, signing off on all student-athletes before practice/competition and submitting compliance reports while collaborating closely with the department of athletics.

  • Bachelor’s degree required with three years of relevant technical and administrative experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student information systems; preferably Banner.
  • Ability to plan projects, implement operations strategies, and good judgment in decision making.
  • Experience in interpreting and applying regulations or policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the application of technology to deliver services.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise.
  • Ability to represent University in community/professional situations.
  • Evidence of skills and initiative in teamwork and customer service.
  • A positive attitude and ability to plan and adapt to change.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleges, departments, and divisions.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Athletic Compliance experience and knowledge of NCAA academic rules and regulations.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Coordinates course registration for undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education students.
  • Registration activity requires significant interaction with deans’ offices, academic departments, student accounts, and financial aid to insure effective delivery of registration procedures. Develops and fosters a customer oriented atmosphere while referring students to campus support (academic and student) offices.
  • Oversees staff and possibly work-study students who assist all student, faculty, staff, and visitor walk ins, as well as respond to Registrar Office phone and email contacts.
  • Insure accurate communication of University-wide policies and procedures to campus community.
  • Explain policies, procedures and services to inquiries. Coordinate relevant registration activity with student accounts and financial aid.

Duty/Responsibility

  • With Assistant and Associate Registrars in Scheduling and Records, coordinate work related to student registration, course set up, and records.
  • Organize sharing of resources during off-peak times with other Registrar units.

  • Works with office leadership to develop policies and practices to manage, monitor, and recommend improvements for Registrar’s Office functions, operations, and systems.
  • Interpret and apply a variety of procedures, policies, and precedents.

  • Reviews and certifies approximately 500+ student athletes – constantly monitoring athletes as the only certifying officer for UNH.
  • Completes Student-athlete certifications, determines academic eligibility for all student-athletes, creates and maintains systems to use as eligibility check sheets.
  • Collaborates with the athletics department and communicates proactively regarding student eligibility.
  • Stays current on all NCAA rules and regulations related to academic eligibility.
