Job Mission

The Systems and Performance Manager in the EUV Source Research department will be responsible for the management and leadership of a team of diverse and highly skilled engineers, scientists and project leaders in a Research environment. In this role, you will serve as the leadership nexus for the delivery of learning goals for the Research team. This roll will lead and initiate new ways of working from the highest level to the working level for the successful integration and execution of test campaign and source/lab configurations to meet Research objectives. As a people manager, you will create an environment in which employees feel engaged and included and can grow in a Research environment with ownership and autonomy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages the Systems and Performance group within ASML's EUV Source Research department, including the Operations team, integration and systems project leads, systems integration architects, Research Engineers, Program Managers, and the Business Operations.

  • Ensures project feasibility and monitoring for triple constraint: costs, timeliness and quality. Be able to foresee problems early that challenge project triple constraint and communicate to program leadership.

  • Defines an optimum organization structure and providing input to the execution branch of the program structure for the efficient delivery of program objectives.

  • Builds, maintains and upgrades EUV sources and lab environments for the Research Program, including quantifiable metrics for success and ways of working; identifies gaps in ways of working leading to test inefficiencies and establishes new best practices.

  • Establishes best practices, metrics and processes needed for successful realization of the operational aspects of the mission, vision and strategy of Source Research organization including learning goals, operational efficiency, and Cost of Technology, to name a few

  • Creates an environment where employees feel engaged and empowered to own safe and impactful test campaigns.

  • Uses their influence and connections across sectors to proactively align people, parts and processes for efficient execution of Research learning objectives.

  • Responsible for best practices, methodology, processes and systems that allow architecture pathfinding and proof of concept demonstration as well as full system-level demonstration and de-risking via rapid prototyping of technical innovations.

  • Implements sound engineering processes that provide for efficient use of platform utilization, resource allocation and product planning.

  • Provides technical leadership and operational credibility and have a balcony/dance engagement within the team and with strategic partners.

  • Recruits, mentors and develops a highly cohesive team.

  • Provides group direction: translates company and department requirements and goals into group policy and team goals.

  • Leads and/or participates in preliminary and critical design reviews.

  • Ensures quality of operation of your group by reviewing of technical solutions, procedures and documentation delivered by the group and signing-off as required.

  • Drives a strong safety culture within the group as well as accountability for Lab safety.

  • Conducts periodic performance reviews and one-on-ones for direct employees.

  • Delivers technical and progress reports and presentations to upper management and internal / external customers.

  • Drives budget and resource requests for annual financial budgeting.

  • Manages suppliers and contractors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Education and experience
  • Requires a BS, MS or PhD in Optics, Opto-Mechanics, Electrical/Photonics Engineering or Physics, or other related science or engineering discipline.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a technical leadership, project leadership or management role.

  • Familiar with technical aspects of engineering modules with multiple challenging mechanical, material, controls, physical and optical constraints and interfaces.

  • Strong negotiation skills for interacting with other sectors.

  • Experience selecting and managing suppliers for optical module design and manufacturing.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Other information

A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees working in roles conducive to remote work (up to two days a week working from home). This position often requires an onsite presence to attend in-person meetings, work-related events and trainings to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.

Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
