The Role
As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant who will work closely with our Plant Controller to perform cost accounting functions such as product costing, product manufacturing analysis and inventory valuation. This position is also responsible for the monthly journal entries, monthly reconciliations and performing research on issues identified to ensure a timely and accurate financial close. This position can be located onsite in San Diego, CA. A hybrid work schedule is also available.
The ResponsibilitiesPerform various cost accounting functions, including inventory reconciliation, production volume reporting and work order variance analytics and general support of the Operations team
Calculate manufacturing labor and overhead rates and perform the standard cost roll annually
Maintain global intercompany transfer pricing and roll updates annually
Track excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory, calculate provision based on company policy and work with operations to reduce E&O
Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries related to cost accounting as required during the month end close process
Oversee the cycle count process and cycle count reporting
Perform initial financial analysis of monthly reports for presentation to Leadership
Create ad hoc financial reports and slide presentations as needed
Represent Cost Accounting on teams designed to improve operations and reduce costs
Identify process improvements, propose changes to management and implement changes
Work with internal and external auditors to answer questions regarding the company's costing process and control environment
Support SOX 404 audit procedures related to transactional accounting activities
Carry out duties in compliance with established business policies
Assist management with special projects, including implementation of new software and processes
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting
Five years related accounting experience with preferably
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
Microsoft Excel expertise with advanced knowledge of pivots and formulas
Ability to analyze complex data and produce meaningful reports to be used by senior management
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Detail oriented, self-motivated and driven to problem solve
Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision or guidance
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills:
Three years cost accounting experience
CPA or public accounting experience
Experience with LN

Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including: education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, its is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on that facts and circumstances of each case. A salary range for this position is $78,000 to $145,000. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time) and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
